Week One – Time for Me – Self Care Challenge
Here’s a recap of Week One of our Time For Me – Autumn Mental Health Self Care Challenge! This is an opportunity for all of us to benefit from some daily self care habits. Please share with colleagues, friends and family! This is an opportunity to create a new habit and learn more about the importance of daily self-care. We hope our posts spur you into action, into a new awareness of self care that is meaningful and lasting.
Let’s make last week’s Mental Health Week and World Mental Health Day “memorable through action” and sign up for our Oct. 29-30 (2-day) Mental Health First Aid Workshop. Only $225 plus HST per person.
BONUS: Each participant will also receive a P.A.S.S. kit and and opportunity to win a free float from Float KW Let’s strengthen our communities. Register here.
DAY ONE: After supper tonight ask the gang to join you for a gentle walk. Breathe in that fresh fall air and look at the changing colours! Or take a starry evening stroll all on your own. Whatever sort of stroll you have, why not focus on the people and things you are thankful for! Let’s go! #megatimeforme
DAY TWO: Read for pleasure for 30 minutes. (Or listen to an audiobook) When you read a book, all of your attention is focused on the story—the rest of the world just falls away, and you can immerse yourself in every fine detail you’re absorbing. #megatimeforme
DAY THREE: Spend an hour in your garden. Today’s weather is ideal for getting outside in the fresh air, exercising and accomplishing something to help nature do its best. No garden? pitch in and help a neighbour, family or friend with theirs? #megatimeforme
DAY FOUR: It’s been said that there’s more happiness in giving, and studies prove it. Those who practice kindness experience a significant boost in happiness. Prove it to yourself. Be kind to someone today, and watch your happiness grow. #megatimeforme
DAY FIVE: Sit back, relax and listen to some of your favourite music! ?Research proves that when you listen to music you like, your brain releases dopamine, a “feel-good” neurotransmitter. #megatimeforme
DAY SIX: If putting your feelings into words is hard, try sketching. It doesn’t have to be perfect; no one needs to see it but you. You may learn something about yourself you never knew before. #megatimeforme
DAY SEVEN: Owning a pet can improve your cardiovascular health, reduce your stress, and lower incidents of clinical depression. Visit your local animal shelter and add some love to your life. Visit a friend with a pet for a bit of unconditional love!) #megatimeforme
